is a family owned and operated electronic contract
manufacturing company. The
Du family, headed by Xuong and his wife Trinh, emigrated
to the United States from the former Republic of Vietnam
in 1979. Once in the United States, the family settled
in North San Diego County, California. Eldest sons
David and Co Kien immediately began work in cable
and harness manufacturing in a Vista, CA company.
In
1981, the harness and cable operations of Southwest
Assembly were spun-off into Southwest Wire & Cable,
also in Vista, CA. David, Co Kien and later Danny,
a third son, rapidly rose to positions of responsibility
at Southwest Wire & Cable under the leadership of
General Manager Chuck Rabel. David became the production
manager, Co Kien and Danny, Production Supervisors,
while Southwest Wire & Cable successfully serviced
the cable and harness needs of customers like NCR,
Xerox, Rainbird Sprinklers, and major video game manufacturers.
In
1988, after the take-over by SCI of Huntsville, AL,
a significant number of long-term customers moved
their business to competitors which resulted in personnel
cutbacks. David and his brothers saw this as an opportunity
to go into business for themselves in a field in which
the Du family was expert.
In September of 1988, DDH was established with initial
capitalization coming from hard earned family savings.
DDH was originally located in a leased 2,000 square
foot facility in San Marcos, CA. In 1991 DDH moved
to a larger facility on Progress Street in Vista,
California. With steady growth the company increased
its facility to 5,300 square feet in 1992, and then
purchased the entire 10,800 square foot building in
1993.
In
1994 Chuck Rabel, former associate and client while
heading Avnet's cable assembly operation, joined DDH
as General Manager. One
of his initial decisions was to get the company running
on an MRPII system. He managed the installation and implementation of
the selected system (Add + On, from Open Systems). This system has been upgraded and customized over the yeras to best serve DDH's unique operations.

In
1996, to meet ever-growing demands and provide capacity
for further growth, DDH purchased and relocated
operations to it's current 42,000 square foot facility
in Vista, California.

Over the years, DDH has grown to become one
of the largest, most capable and automated cable/wire
harness manufacturers in Southern California. In
February 1998, DDH separated from most of it's competition
when it became certified ISO 9002-1994. This world
class quality system standard has become the benchmark
for manufacturing organizations.
Through dedication to servicing clients, reinvestment
of earnings and productive hard work, the Du family
and the DDH team are a true American success story. As of this writing, the team is 145 strong, representing 11 countries.
In
mid-2000 David and Danny Du started up Dutek, a
sister company, to service key clients' requirements
for printed circuit board assembly. 2000 also saw
dramatic growth in DDH's mechanical assembly business.

In early 2001, DDH purchased
a 37,000 square foot facility in Vista. This new
manufacturing operation (Plant 8), specializes in
mechanical assemblies (panels and boxes) using printed
circuit board sub-assemblies from Dutek and wire
and cable assemblies from the main DDH plant.

Also in early 2001 DDH opened an operation in Xiamen, China to be able to service clients with medium to high volume assembly requirements. In August 2006 DDH will occupy a new 67,000 square foot facility in Xiamen, China.
